The route from Fethiye to Kekova is one of the most spectacular voyages on the Turkish coast. It follows the dramatic Lycian shoreline past the Blue Lagoon of Ölüdeniz and the towering cliffs of the Butterfly Valley, continues to the elegant towns of Kalkan and Kaş, and ends among the islands of Kekova, where the ruins of an ancient city lie beneath crystal-clear water and a castle crowns the hillside village of Simena. On a superyacht or a luxury gulet, it is a week of breathtaking scenery, rich history and wonderful swimming.

Compared with the sheltered Twelve Islands of Göcek, this route involves some more open stretches of coast, so a larger, stable yacht is ideal. Your captain will plan passages for the calmest times of day, usually the morning, leaving afternoons for swimming and exploring.

Highlights

Ölüdeniz, the Blue Lagoon, is one of the most famous beaches in Turkey, with paragliders drifting down from Babadağ mountain. The Butterfly Valley is a secluded beach at the foot of a steep gorge, accessible only by sea. Kaş is a charming town with a Hellenistic theatre overlooking the sea and excellent restaurants. Kekova is the jewel of the route: the remains of an ancient city lie partly submerged along the shore, best seen from a tender or kayak (swimming over the ruins is restricted), while Simena’s castle offers sweeping views across the islands.
