Historical
It was founded by bodrum dors according to Heredot, who was born in Halikarnassos, the old name of Bodrum, in 484 BC and was called the father of history. Then Karya and the Leg settled in this area. In 650 BC, the Megerans came to this region and expanded the city and named it Halikarnassos.
Halikarnassos, which came under Persian rule in 386 BC, experienced the brightest period of its period when it became the capital of the Karya region in 353 BC. Bodrum Mausoleion, one of the seven wonders of the world, was built by Artemisia, his sister and also his wife, in memory of King Mausolos during this period.
Halikarnassos was dominated by the Romans in 192 BC, the Bizanas in 395 AD and the Turks in the 11th century AD. It later fell back into the hands of the Byzantines in the First Crusades and then again in the Turks in the 14th century. Halikarnassos, who became knights of Rhodes in 1415, finally came under the rule of the Ottoman Empire again in 1522 under Sultan Suleiman the Law. The name Bodrum was given after the proclamation of the Republic.
