Month by Month

December: festive season

Early December is a quiet, good-value time to charter, with fresh crews and freshly prepared yachts at the start of their season. From around 20 December, everything changes: Christmas and New Year are the most popular weeks of the year, especially in St Barths, and need to be booked many months ahead.

January: calm after the holidays

After New Year the islands become quieter, availability improves and prices are often lower than during the festive weeks. The trade winds are at their strongest, which is perfect for sailing yachts and kitesurfing.

February and March: peak season

These are the most reliable months for sunshine and the busiest time in the Caribbean. February is popular with families during winter school holidays, while March is regatta season, when the great sailing yachts gather for events such as the St Barths Bucket.

April and May: the late season

April offers excellent weather, warmer water and better availability, and Easter is a popular holiday week. Antigua Sailing Week usually takes place at the end of April. By May the season is coming to an end; the Grenadines and the Bahamas remain good choices well into the month.

June to November: hurricane season

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from 1 June to 30 November. The Bahamas are the main exception: June and July are a popular charter season there, especially with families from the US. Most charter yachts leave the Caribbean during these months, and many of the yachts on our Caribbean list spend the summer in the Mediterranean. If you love these yachts, ask us about chartering them in Greece or Turkey in summer.
