Quick Answer

Large Caribbean superyachts of 50–95 metres in our fleet start from around $250,000 per week, and the largest exceed €1,000,000. An Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), typically around 25–40% of the charter fee, is added for fuel, food, drinks and berthing, plus local taxes. Smaller motor yachts and catamarans cost much less.

How much does a Caribbean yacht charter really cost? The honest answer is that it depends on the yacht, the season and how you like to travel. In this guide we explain how charter prices are built, show real examples from our Caribbean fleet and share practical tips to get the best value for your week.

How Caribbean Charter Prices Work

A crewed yacht is usually priced per week. The charter fee covers the yacht itself and its crew, and is the figure you see on each listing. Several other costs come on top, and a good broker shows all of them clearly before you book.

  • Charter fee: the weekly rate for the yacht and its crew.
  • APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance): a deposit for fuel, food, drinks, berthing and similar running costs, typically around 25–40% of the charter fee. You receive a full account at the end of the week and any balance is returned.
  • Local taxes: these vary from island to island and depend on where the charter starts and which waters it visits.
  • Crew gratuity: optional and at your discretion; it is customary to leave a tip for a crew that has looked after you well.

What Affects the Price?

Size and age of the yacht

Length is the biggest factor. Larger yachts have more crew, more space, bigger toys and higher running costs. A recently built or refitted yacht is usually priced higher than an older yacht of the same size.

The week you choose

Christmas and New Year are the most expensive weeks of the year, often with a minimum stay of 10 nights or more. February and March are also in high demand. Early December and late April usually offer better value with similar weather.

Region and itinerary

Fuel use depends on how far you cruise. A relaxed week in the British Virgin Islands uses much less fuel than a long one-way route between several island groups. One-way charters may also include a repositioning fee.

Tips for the Best Value

  • Book early: the best yachts for festive weeks are often reserved a year in advance.
  • Be flexible with dates: moving your week by a few days can make a real difference.
  • Choose a compact region: shorter distances mean lower fuel costs and more time in the water.
  • Think about group size: sharing a larger yacht with family or friends often costs less per person than a luxury resort.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the charter fee include?

The weekly use of the yacht and the services of its crew. Fuel, food, drinks, berthing and similar costs are usually paid from the APA.

Is the APA refundable?

Yes. The captain keeps a detailed record of all expenses, and any unused amount is returned to you at the end of the charter.

Are there extra taxes in the Caribbean?

Many islands charge local taxes or fees on charters. The amount depends on where you start and which waters you visit, and is shown in your offer.

Do we need to tip the crew?

Tipping is optional but customary. Many guests leave a gratuity at the end of the week to thank the crew for their service.

Can I get a quote for specific dates?
