A week on a private gulet from Bodrum is one of the most memorable holidays you can take – but not every boat or contract is the same. Before you book, these are the twelve questions we always encourage guests to ask, whether they book with us or not.
The Boat
- 1. How old is the gulet and when was it last refitted? A recent refit often matters more than the build year.
- 2. Is the air-conditioning 24-hour or limited? Many classic gulets run A/C only at night or for a few hours a day.
- 3. Are all cabins en-suite, and what are the bed sizes? Twin cabins can often be converted to doubles.
- 4. Which water toys are included? Paddleboards, kayaks, snorkelling gear, a ringo or water skis.
The Crew and Food
- 5. How many crew are on board? Luxury gulets usually have 5–9 crew; classic gulets 3–4.
- 6. How does food work? Most Bodrum gulets offer menu packages – read our food on a gulet guide.
- 7. Can the chef cater for allergies, vegetarians or children? Always tell us in advance.
The Route and Extras
- 8. Is fuel included for my route? A standard Gökova or Hisarönü route usually is; long one-way routes may not be.
- 9. Can we visit the Greek islands? Possible from Bodrum, but with extra transit and port fees – see our Greek islands blue cruise.
- 10. Are private marina nights included? Usually extra – most nights are spent at anchor.
- 11. What is the cancellation policy? Ask for it in writing before paying a deposit.
- 12. Is the charter company licensed? Aren Yachting is TÜRSAB-licensed and works only with gulets we know personally.
