In yacht charter operations, the broker acts as a guarantor, mediator, protector, and a form of insurance between the client and the yacht owner.
Especially when working with repeat and experienced clients, the broker ensures that the entire process runs smoothly, transparently, and securely.
Many of our guests regularly charter motor yachts over 30 meters, often with their families, and have significant experience in the industry. During the negotiation phase, these clients usually involve their trusted broker. At times, disagreements may arise regarding pricing or terms. This is where the broker plays a critical role—
protecting both the client and the yacht owner, bringing the parties together, resolving differences, and successfully finalizing the agreement.
The broker’s responsibility does not end at the signing stage.
Even 6–7 months after the agreement, the broker remains accountable for the promised terms, dates, and conditions.
Programming and Contract Process
Once the agreement is reached, a detailed programming process begins, including:
Guest information
Yacht specifications
Charter dates
Payment method and schedule
All details are documented in writing and shared among three parties:
the client, the yacht owner, and the broker.
The agreement is then formally signed by all parties.
The charter dates—often scheduled several months in advance—are officially confirmed and blocked. Once approved, these dates belong exclusively to the client and are not offered to other parties.
Payments, Deposits, and APA
The charter contract must clearly state:
Deposit (advance payment) amount
Total charter fee
Remaining balance and payment timeline
For motor yacht charters, an APA (Advanced Provisioning Allowance) is required.
APA is used to transparently manage operational expenses such as:
Fuel consumption
Port and marina fees
Other onboard operational costs
All APA-related terms must be clearly defined and included in the contract.
Embarkation, Disembarkation & Route Planning
Another crucial element is the guest’s embarkation and disembarkation location, which must be confirmed and stated in writing. Common locations include:
Göcek
Marmaris
Bodrum
Bozburun
The Aegean coastline is extensive, and especially for large motor yacht charters (25–30–35 meters), guests may request the yacht to be delivered or returned at a specific location. Therefore, routes and delivery points are carefully planned according to the guest’s preferences.
